it counts if you can also get the taxi-driver to take you back to your hotel....

  No,

but I´ve tried a couple times over the years. I can´t get myself to stick to it.

It has made it so I can understand some German and Spanish though.

  Almost everyone in

the Netherlands is bilingual. It is part of our school system to learn another language.

I can speak and write in dutch, english, german and read a little old-norse and latin. I used to know french but forgot almost all of it.

BASIC, Visual BASIC, C++, Pascal, COBOL, Assembly. My husband speaks 5 languages. I think that would cause my brain to explode.

I´ve found the best way to get back to your hotel in any counrty, and this tip is GOLD!!

Every hotel has its own stationary, most place a scratch-pad next to the phone in your room (others have compliment slips at the front desk). Put one sheet in your Wallet and one sheet (from experience) in your back pocket. Then rollon 4am when you get into the taxi trollied (hell, you probably can´t even speak english by this point anyway). just give the Driver your slip... job done <:)
