1: "The most important thing is for us to find Osama bin Laden. It is our number one priority and we will not rest until we find him."
- G.W. Bush, 9/13/01

2: "I don´t know where bin Laden is. I have no idea and really don´t care. It´s not that important. It´s not our priority."

  Here´s how I see it

It might have been in Bush´s best interest to pretend that Bin Laden was still alive even if he was dead. I think Obama´s interest would be the exact opposite, however.

Obama hasn´t really been trying to govern based on Americans´ fear of terrorism. If anything, he´s been criticized by Republicans for "acting like we´re not at war," which is a total lie because you can look up plenty of Obama´s speeches where he talks about the wars, and you don´t exactly send a new "surge" to Afghanistan if you´re pretending we´re not at war. But I digress ...

If Obama were to produce Bin Laden´s dead body right now, it wouldn´t shoot his governing style in the foot, and it would probably give him and the Democrats as a whole a huge boost running up to the November elections. So from a purely craven political perspective, I have to think Bin Laden is still alive.

and if he´s not he´ll never be found. he´s probably living some alternative life with a bit of crude plastic surgery.

In the short term you would be correct but in the long run, it is best to keep the myth going. Think about it. More military funding while poor children go hungry because their school lunch money is now paying for cruise missile and UAV´s...

Bin Laden is the early 21st centuries Cold War Soviet Union. Instead of the Soviet boogie man to keep our masses panicking, we use muslims with bombs strapped to their chests to get the same effect. Essentially, people are being scared into believing that more military spending is the answer while the New Deal is dismantled yet even more...

Political leaders have been trying to dismantle the programs created by FDR for years. Democrats, Republicans they generally all lean the same way in terms of dismantling social programs.

Eventually the US will end up just like the Soviet Union if it keeps up this military spending. Our own military is helping to bankrupt this nation. Obama is only pouring gas onto an already burning fire by continuing the Bush policies. Oh his rhetoric is different but nothing has really changed overall...

I Wonder If He Is A Bigger Threat Alive Or Dead?

Dead he will be a martyr, alive a rallying point.

  Another Statement From Him Today

I imagine that they use "voice stress analysis" to verify that it is him. They will search his statement for references to current happenings to verify that it is recent.
