Denver Bakery Wins Right to Refuse to Make Anti-Gay Cakes

Colorado´s Civil Rights Division ruled that Denver´s Azucar Bakery did not discriminate against William Jack by refusing to make two cakes with anti-gay messages and imagery that the man requested in March 2014.

Jack asked the bakery to make two cakes shaped like bibles. He also wanted one cake to have the image of two groomsmen holding hands in front of a cross with a red "X" over them.

The bakery owner Marjorie Silva instead offered to provide him with icing so he could decorate them as he wanted. "We were not morally right but also legally right," Silva says. Jack intends to appeal the ruling.
