Amazon Files First-Ever Lawsuit Against Fake Review Providers

Amazon filed its first-ever lawsuit Wednesday against a California man who is allegedly responsible for various websites that write fake product reviews online.

Jay Gentile is the operator of buyreviewsnow.com, buyazonreviews.com, bayreviews.net and buyamazonreviews.com. He reportedly told sellers they could simply ship empty packages in an effort to fool Amazon into believing the reviewer was a "verified customer".

"While small in number, these reviews threaten to undermine the trust that customers, and the vast majority of sellers and manufacturers, place in Amazon, thereby tarnishing Amazon’s brand,” the suit says.

What about all the fake reviews that the sellers put up on Amazon for their own products? I don´t trust most of the reviews.
