Russia Lifts Ban on Supplying S-300 PMU Missiles to Iran

President Vladimir Putin said Russia has lifted a ban on transferring one of the world´s most advanced anti-aircraft systems to Iran.

"The big concern in the West ... and especially in Israel is that these Russian missiles will be able to help shield Iran´s nuclear facilities from any future airstrikes," an expert comments on the move.

Russia signed a deal to sell Iran the S-300 missile system in 2007, but President Dmitry Medvedev introduced a ban in 2010. "We are convinced that at this stage, there´s no more need of such an embargo," Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov said Monday.
