Research: Marijuana Shows Promise for Epilepsy

Research conducted at the NYU Langone Comprehensive Epilepsy Center finds that marijuana could treat people with severe epilepsy.

Study participants were given the drug cannabidiol (CBD). Of the 137 adults and children who completed the study, 54 percent said their symptoms improved with the drug.

CBD is not the same as THC, which is the chemical compound in cannabis that gives users a "high."
