PepsiCo announced on Friday that an aspartame-free Diet Pepsi — sweetened with sucralose and ace-K — will hit shelves some time in August.
"To Diet Pepsi consumers, removing aspartame is their No. 1 one concern. We´re listening to consumers. It´s what they want," senior vice president Seth Kaufman explains.
Critics, however, say the new sweetener ace-K should be avoided as well as it is "poorly tested" and "might pose a cancer risk".
