FBI director James Comey said FBI warned local authorities in Garland, Texas about a 30-year-old man just hours before he and an his roommate opened fire at a community center where a "Muhammad Art Exhibit and Contest" was taking place.
The agency was reportedly concerned that Elton Simpson might be interested in going to the May 4 event, but had no evidence that he was planning an attack.
Simpson and Nadi Soofi arrived dressed in body armor and fired assault rifles at police officers. Both were killed. 62-year-old security guard Bruce Joiner was taken to the hospital.
