Study: Vitamin B3 Reduces Risk of Skin Cancer

A new study suggests that a certain form of vitamin B3 may help reduce the risk of non-melanoma skin cancers by 23 percent.

Nicotinamide could enhance DNA repair by giving skin cells an energy boost, and therefore, reduce the chance of skin cancer recurring in patients who had been diagnosed with it before.

The study followed nearly 400 patients who had at least two skin cancers in the last five years. Half of them took nicotinamide twice a day had a 23 per cent lower rate of new skin cancers compared to others who took a placebo.
