Under Armour apologized for a T-shirt design that resembled the iconic World War II image of U.S. soldiers raising the American flag at Iwo Jima, instead with four men raising a bastketball hoop.
The "Band of Ballers" shirt was criticized for being inapproriate and insensitive. "@UnderArmour On behalf of my US Military brothers and sisters, reducing Iwo Jima to b-ball moment is UNACCEPTABLE," one Twitter user wrote.
"Under Armour has the utmost respect and admiration for active duty service men and women and veterans who have served our country," the sports-apparel brand said in a statement. It also promised to pull the shirt from all of its retailers.
