The Internet Runs Out of Space


The American Registry for Internet Numbers (ARIN) says the internet is running out of IP addresses.

"Within three to four weeks, we will hit the point where there is no inventory," John Curran, president and CEO of ARIN, explains.

There are only about 4.3 billion possible IPv4 addresses, which engineers created in the 1990s. However, the new IPv6 protocol, which offers 340 trillion trillion trillion brand new IP addresses, has already been deployed.
