A new app created by two researchers at Queen Mary, University of London is able to distinguish species of birds by listening to their singing.
Warblr combines a song-recognition app with historic mapping data from the British Trust for Ornizhology. The app is now available for iOS users. An Android version will follow "in the not too distant future".
"The beauty of it is that the more people who use Warblr and submit recordings to our server, the more accurate we can train our technology to become," explains Warblr co-founder and researcher Dan Stowell.
