"Female Viagra" Approved by the FDA

The U.S. Food and Drug Administration on Tuesday approved Addyi, a controversial pill for women with low sex drives.

The "female viagra", otherwise known as flibanserin, is produced by Sprout Pharmaceuticals and is the first drug to treat a low libido in women. Possible side effects of the pill include low blood pressure, fainting, nausea and sleepiness.

"This is the biggest breakthrough for women´s sexual health since the pill," says Sally Greenberg, executive director of the National Consumers League.
