Coffee May Reduce Risk of Colon Cancer Recurrence

A study by researchers at the Dana Farber Cancer Center suggests that coffee could prevent a recurrence of colon cancer in people treated for the disease.

Study participants with state III colon cancer who drank four or more cups of coffee daily were 42 percent less likely to have their cancer recur than patients who did not drink coffee at all.

Caffeine also helps lower insulin levels and is associated with decreased risk of type 2 diabetes. "If you are a coffee drinker and are being treated for colon cancer, donĀ“t stop," Dr. Charles Fuchs says.
