Hangovers Hurt U.S. Economy, Cost $249 Billion a Year

 

According to a report by the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, binge drinking cost the American economy $249 billion in 2010.

The costs stem in part from reduced workplace productivity and resulting health problems.

"The increase in the costs of excessive drinking from 2006 to 2010 is concerning, particularly given the severe economic recession that occurred during these years," says expert Dr. Brewer.
