A 26-year-old Michigan woman, who was arrested and charged in April for sealing her newborn son in a plastic bag and stuffing him in a drawer, was sentenced to nine to 20 years in prison on Monday.
Police discovered the infant’s body on March 31 in Kimberly Pappas’ desk drawer at her place of work. She reportedly had given birth in the bathroom, and employees called paramedics after noticing blood in the restroom.
Paramedics could not rescue the little boy who died of suffocation in the plastic bag. Pappas initially told authorities she had a miscarriage but then admitted to putting the baby in the bag and pleaded guilty to second-degree murder.
