Justice Department to Release 6,000 Non-Violent Inmates

The Justice Deparmtent will open prison cells for 6,112 drug offenders this weekend.

A third of them are foreign citizens and will be deported to their home countries. Texas and Florida will see the highest number of released federal inmates.

"This is all going to be dropped into the laps of the American police. We are letting them out of jail, but treatment is not there. Job training is not there. Housing, for many of them, is not there," NY City Police Commissioner William Bratton criticized the move.
