U.S. Sending More Special Forces to Iraq, Syria

Defense Secretary Ash Carter said on Tuesday that the United States is sending more special forces to help Iraqi and Peshmerga forces.

"In full coordination with the government of Iraq, we´re deploying a specialized expeditionary targeting force to assist Iraqi and Kurdish Peshmerga forces and put even more pressure on [ISIS]," he told Congress.

So far, Carter hasn´t revealed how many additional special forces troops would go to Iraq. In October, administration officials announced the deployment of 50 special operators to work with anti-IS fighters in Syria.
