The owners of 8 different sushi restraurants in California were convicted of seafood fraud for serving "lobster rolls" that didn´t have any lobster in them.
DNA testing showed "the substitution of various types of less-expensive seafood such as crawfish or pollack. Follow-up restaurant inspections by the California Department of Fish and Wildlife and the city’s investigator found no lobster in any of the businesses," City Attorney Jan Goldsmith said.
The restaurants cited were Little Tokyo, Edamami Sushi & Roll, Wonderful Sushi, OB Sushi Sushi, Riki Sushi and RB Sushi 2. Each business pleaded guilty and changed its menu.
