Historical researchers have confirmed the site of 19 hangings in Salem, Mass. stemming from a wave of hysteria over witchcraft in 1692.
The wooded part of Salem where 19 women were hanged after being accused of being witches is now a plot of land overlooking a Walgreens.
Current Salem Mayor Kimberley Driscoll says a small memorial will be placed at the site. "This is part of our history, and this is an opportunity for us to be honest about what took place," she explained.
