Researchers at the Dwight Eisenhower Army Medical Center´s Tramatic Brain Injury Clinic and Augusta University say regular practice of Transcendental Meditation (TM) helps some active-duty service members battle post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD).
In some patients meditation helped reduce or even eliminate their use of psychotropic medication.
The scientists studied 74 service members with PTSD or anxiety disorder. Half of them were told to meditate regularly in addition to their therapies. After one month, 87.3 percent of those who meditated had stablized, decreased of stopped their use of drugs.
