René Angélil, the husband of award-winning singer Céline Dion, 47 passed away at his Las Vegas home Thursday after battling throat cancer for years.
Angélil, who was also Dion´s manager and mentor, was 73 years old. "The family requests that their privacy be respected at the moment; more details will be provided at a later time," his rep said in a statement.
The Montreal-born musician, who began his career with the Canadian pop rock group The Baronets in the 1960s, and the "My Heart Will Go On" singer got married in 1994. They have three children together.
