WHO: $56 Million Needed to Fight Zika Virus

The World Health Organization informed on Wednesday that $56 million is needed to combat the Zika virus through June.

The WHO´s action plan will include surveillance (tracking new Zika cases), response (to control the spread of mosquitoes) and research (studies of the birth defects). The WHO also plans to provide women with contraception and prenatal care.

Earlier this month, the Obama administration asked Congress for $1.8 billion to respond to the Zika virus abroad and prepare for it at home.
