Americans Still Love Their SUV's

For the first time ever, sales of SUV's in the US last year were higher than sales of normal cars, even though there were slightly less cars sold in the country than in 2000.

A total of just over 17 million new cars were sold in the US last year while in 2000 there were 17.4 million. However all the major manufacturers saw their profits fall substantially.

It is thought the deals offered by many makers of 0% finance after the Sept 11 terror attacks helped to spur a new wave of buying and allowed so many vehicles to be sold.
