Microsoft has sent out a mass mailing to all of their Passport customers, warning them to check their systems to be sure that a security hole in their Internet Explorer browser has been patched.
"The reason for the 'canvassing' approach is that we feel that we need to do everything to make users aware of fixes to browser issues that could affect their Passport experience," Microsoft said. 25 million emails were sent.
Having Passport seen as secure is a vital step for Microsoft to gain user's trust when dealing with their financial information. However, they have had a number of security problems recently, which has been undermining their already poor reputation.
