Snow Kills 10 in Southern U.S.

Heavy snowfall is being blamed for the deaths of at least 10 people, after as much as a foot of snow fell in regions which rarely get any accumulation at all.

"Folks are seeing snow in that part of the country, the southeastern part of the United States, that they haven't seen those kind of amounts in the last 10 years or so," said a member of the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration.

Many people in the area, which covered Louisiana to Maryland, don't even own a snow shovel, and as much as four more inches are expected to fall by the end of today. Already, airports have been shut down, and a state of emergency declared.
