Album Sales Slump by 20 Million Albums in 2001

In the US alone, album sales dropped last year by 3% which may not sound like much, but put it in sales figures, and that's 20 Million albums less than 2000.

File sharing services, and other forms of entertainment, such as DVD's have been blamed for the slump, as well as the bad economy. In the UK, however, album sales rose by 5% and Germany experienced it's lowest slump in 20 years.

Linkin Park ended the year on a high note, beating Shaggy to the number one album of 2001, after a surge in sales over Christmas.
