New Year Present Destroys Office After Exploding

Witnesses report that two people dressed up as Grandfather Frost and the Snow Maiden delivered a gift to an oil company in Vladivostok, Russia, which later exploded after being plugged in, destroying a small office and injuring two people.

Russians give presents on New Years day which is a tradition started by the Soviets. This particular gift was a desk lamp. Police say that the explosives could have been designed to get rid of competitors.

Russia is often the place of violent attacks between large groups who try and get their hands on natural resources, as well as groups who practice in extortion and blackmail. It is not yet known what the motive was in this case however.
