Afghanistan's Civilian Death Toll Rises

A research report, by Professor Marc Herold of the University of New Hampshire has suggested nearly 3,800 Afghans have died between 7th October and 7th December of last year.

Professor Herold has used data gathered from news agencies, major newspapers and first hand accounts since October 7 last year. His report, which places the exact death toll at 3,767, lists each casualty, the location, type of weapon, and the source of where the information came from.

Professor Herold has said in a radio interview that "In fact the figure I came up with is a very, very conservative estimate. I think that a much more realistic figure would be around 5,000". His figure is well in excess of the estimated 2,998 people killed in the suicide attacks on America.
