The scooter known as Ginger may run into some trouble in marketing. A Japanese man invented the same device over 15 years ago and now wants recognition for his work.
Kazuo Yamafuji did receive a patent for his invention in 1996 thus causing potential marketing problems for the US inventor. Although the US patent most likely wont be challenged, sales in Japan would certainly be difficult.
The man who invented the first version of this device called it a parallel bicycle rather than its better-known name of the Segway Human Transporter. He said that he simply wants people to know that he was the first inventor.
