World's Number One Brewer may become Miller.

By merging with South African Breweries PLC, the 5th largest brewery, and Scottish & Newcastle PLC, the 7th largest brewery, Miller may become the worlds biggest beer-maker.

Since sales have been slacking for Miller's products, such a merger would allow Miller to stay in Milwaukee and avoid layoffs. Phillip Morris, the tobacco giant, owns Miller.

Foreign beers may get more sales in the US as a result of this merger. Scottish & Newcastle PLC make Newcastle Brown Ale and the Beamish beers. South African Breweries PLC brew Pilsner Urquell.
