Greenspans Comments Force Markets Up

Comments made by the chief of America's central bank, Alan Greenspan yesterday gave US stock markets their biggest one day rise of the year.

He had indicated that high interest rates may soon be eased in reaction to the falling growth rate in the US.

The Nasdaq rose 10.5% while markets in Europe all rose by 2-4%. Even the Dow Jones continued its recent upward trend.
