It has been announced that the sales of Toyotas hybrid cars stood at over 100,000 worldwide as of the end of March this year. Included in the figure is the Toyota Prius, which is sold in over 20 countries.
After the launch of the Pitius 5 years ago, Toyota have added another three hybrid cars to their line and all are known as a "mild-hybrid" which means they are perfect for driving in heavy traffic.
Toyotas goal is to sell 300,000 hybrids by 2005, but it is as yet unknown as to which countries they will be sold in. At the moment the "mild-hybrid" has a fuel saving efficiency of about 10% and other manufacturers are also looking into development.
