AOL & Time Warner Merger Allowed

The US FTC has voted 5-0 in agreeing that the worlds biggest media merger can go ahead. There will be plenty of conditions though.

AOL and Time must open their cable lines to competitors within 3 months of merging. Then if they do not comply, the FTC can name a manager to do it for them. Also, they must not interfere with other companies content that may be on their lines.

The two companies now only need the blessing of the Federal Communications Commission which is expected soon, before they can merge to become the largest media group on the planet.
