Five companies and seven individuals have been indicted in New York on charges related to making and importing counterfeit Viagra pills.
Authorities confiscated tools used to form the medicine into the diamond-shaped pills. They also found radios and toys used to smuggle the pills into the country. Investigators bought 25,000 of the fake pills for about $38,000.
The pills had the same active ingredient as Pfizer's Viagra but at varying concentrations and have different inactive ingredients. Three of the accused are fugitives, while the others have appeared in court or are expecting extradition.
