Europe's Most Active Volcano Erupts - Lava Reaches Holiday Area

Mount Etna, the most active volcano in Europe, located on Sicily, erupted after several earthquakes measuring 2.9 to 3.5 on the Richter on Sunday.

The closest big city, Catania was not evacuated and is not in danger, it was only covered in ash.

The lava flew down through an area popular for tourists. There it knocked down power lines, ski-lift pylons and surrounded an empty holiday resort.
no one was injured as the region had been evacuated and sealed.
