In June of 2001, Scott Ritter, the former UN inspector famous for his critique of going to war against Iraq, was arrested by undercover cops at Burger King for trying to meet up with a 16 year old girl he met online. Ritter refuses to comment.
An Albany, NY, newspaper reports that police caught him trying to meet a 14 year old girl two months before this incident but police released him. Ritter's attorney acknowledges the second arrest but will not talk about it since it is sealed.
Albany Assistant District Attorney Cynthia Preiser has been fired. In the case against Ritter on attempted endangerment of a child, Preiser got an adjournment in contemplation of dismissal. Prieser's supporters say this is common in these cases.
