Coalition troops have discovered US$100 million, as well as €90 million in a suburb of Baghdad, Centcom has said. The money was found in cash, and took five hours to count.
The money has been shipped to an undisclosed location, under the guard of "members of a finance unit, Military Police and the Criminal Investigations Division." It has arrived at the secure location.
Earlier, over US$650 million had been found in the same area, according to Centcom, who also said "Funds will remain secure until a stable government is established in Iraq..." More money has been found, but it is unknown if it is counterfeit.
