Quake in Algeria kills over 500
 

An earthquake in northern Algeria has killed at least 538 people, and injured over 4600. The toll is expected to rise as people are found trapped under rubble.

The earthquake measured 5.2 on the Richter scale with the main quake lasting about 5 minutes. The quake epicentre was at Thenia, approximately 60 km east of Algiers.

The quake was also felt in Majorca and Ibiza, along the Spanish Mediterranean coast.

This is beyond human comprehension. I'm glad someone submitted this story. The death rate keeps on going up everytime I read about it. :(

why international rescue teams were being rushed to the scene. I'm assuming international means European, I highly doubt US earth quake rescue teams could reach algeria in time to be useful.

Didnt an Algerian terror cell recently attempt a Ricin attack on the London underground, I'm pretty sure that they attack france more often than any one would like too. So why are we helping these people?

We help people because it is the human thing to do. Every country has its share of miscreants. Shunning whole countries does nothing to stop them.

I hope allt he people injured get better and the oens dead are able to rest peace.
