A couple who were injured while changing a tire in 1998 have been ordered to receive $80 million in compensation by the Judge who ruled on their case.
Melissa Elizondo, 20, and Robert Perez, 21 were fixing a flat tire with a product called Patch-A-Flat when the tire exploded. She lost the site in one eye and he was badly burnt on the hands and could not return to his old job.
Patch-A-Flat is meant to seal the inside of a tire while it is being inflated. The company involved may appeal.
