Comet Systems, a company best known for software which enables users to customize their cursors, has made a partnership with companies like Brittanica.com and Rolling Stones to bring intelligence to cursors.
The basic idea is to be able to right-click on any word on the computer screen, to bring up more information about it, such as a dictionary definition.
Other companies, such as GuruNet, have tried similar things in the past, but were unable to make a profit. Comet thinks they can overcome this problem by acting as a referral service, getting a commission by directing users to websites.
