CT Scans Damaging To Babies

New research coming out of Sweden shows that CT Scans, a common method used when scanning the brain, may be damaging to toddlers. The research team studied over 3,000 men who had been subjected to scans before they were 18 months old.

Many of the subjects showed learning difficulties later in life, and the research team is now calling for stricter guidelines for doctors using a CT Scan. CT (computed tomography) is more detailed than X-Ray.

The developing brain can be damaged by the amount of ionising radiation used in the CT Scans.
