Indonesian filmgoers have, for the first time ever, seen two Indonesian men kissing. Indonesia has strict censor laws, and the films director said he was "elated" when the scene was allowed.
The film, Arisan, has been met by enthusiastic audiences, who both giggled nervously and shouted at the screen when the scene was shown. Director Nia di Nata said: "I and my friends wanted to break new ground."
The films plot surrounds an Indonesian architect, who discovers his sexuality and comes out of the closet. It has not been classified in Indonesia as a gay film.
