Monthly Cable Rates Rising in US

All across the US, in competitive markets and those where one company has a monopoly, rates for cable subscription services are rising.

They went up by around 5.8% last year. Companies argue the increases are because their own costs for buying programmes rose and that new high speed internet is not easy to install.

However a number of consumer groups are calling for a Federal price cap on the rates as they believe customers are not getting a fair deal.
