Aaron Boone, the New York Yankees starting third baseman, could miss the entire season after injuring his knee playing basketball.
"We're currently evaluating the extent of the injury and expect to solicit multiple opinions before providing a complete diagnosis," said New York general manager Brian Cashman.
Cashman also said that Boone's contract had "prohibited activities" written into it, meaning that the Yankees could declare the $5.75m contract void, or partially void. Basketball is listed as potentially risky.
