Col Mark Varley, a former assistant chief of staff at the British Army headquarters in Lisburn, Northern Ireland, has been suspended from duty after it has been revealed that he exposed himself and army secrets to his girlfriend over the Internet.
The 45 year-old's girlfriend, Serena Christopher, told her story to "The Mirror" newspaper, saying that Varley had revealed sensitive information to her. The information included Defence Secretary Geoff Hoon's movements. He also stripped via webcam.
"He is to be suspended from duty in connection with allegations relating to his improper conduct with women via the Internet," the Defence Ministry said. "We will investigate these claims and take disciplinary action if appropriate."
