LOTR Gets Eleven Oscar Nominations

"The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King" has been nominated for a total of eleven Oscars, the best picture is one of them. Director Peter Jackson is leading the nominations for best director.

"Master and Commander" has received ten nominations, while "Cold Mountain" and "Seabiscuit" both received seven each.

A surprise nomination came for 13 year-old New Zealand actress Keisha Castle-Hughes. She is up for best actress, and is the youngest person ever to be nominated in the Oscar's history. She starred in "Whale Rider", an independant production.
