No Reparations for Descendants of Slaves

A federal judge dismissed a lawsuit demanding reparations for slavery from American corporations. Their lawyer claimed that RJ Reynolds Tobacco, Lehman Brothers, and Aetna Insurance all benefited from slavery, and they should pay up.

The two women's lawyer, Jean Baptist, said that he expected the dismissal and they will file an amended complaint.

"Plaintiffs' attempt to bring these claims more than a century after the end of the Civil War and the formal abolition of slavery fails," said U.S. District Judge Charles Norgle.
