Nanotechnology - The Next Dot.com?

Carbon nanotubes currently sell for 39 times the price of gold. The tubes are "the strongest thing you'll ever make out of anything in the universe," said Richard E. Smalley.

Stock prices in companies that deal with nanotechnology are soaring through the roof. Government leaders have called nanotechnology the "next industrial revolution," and predict that it could be worth $1 trillion in a decade.

"There isn't any human artifact that we manufacture that won't eventually be dependent on the kinds of discoveries being made in laboratories now," said Thomas Theis, head of physical science research at IBM.

  Nanotechnology

K, from what I have seen in science fiction movies... It is technology that works at a microscopic level. A little like a microchip. Supposedly, in the future we will have nano machine put into our bodies, so that the machines will actively rebuild injured tissue, or fight off a disease with a simple program.
It sounds real cool, and it may be possible, but it's a long ways off..

  nano means small :)

nano means extremely small scale so this article is just referring to technology on a tiny scale, im extremely doubtful they would be using nanites or nano machines whatever you want to call them. Just materials of extreme density because they are manufactured on a miniscule scale.
