Forbes has released its annual list of the world's wealthiest people and the members of the list saw their wealth increase by $1.9 trillion in one year. The biggest gainer was Warren Buffett, who is only a few billion short from catching Bill Gates.
As mentioned on SN, Harry Potter author Joanne Kathleen Rowling made the list for the first time. Rowling used to be a mother on the dole. Google creators Sergey Brin and Larry Page made the list too and they have yet to turn 30.
The third highest number of billionaires comes from Russia thanks to the sharp rise in oil prices. The US and Germany are first and second in number of billionaires.
